c2c Joins the Purpose Coalition to Shape Future of Opportunity Through the Breaking Down Barriers Commission

Rail operator c2c has joined the Purpose Coalition as a new partner in an exciting new collaboration which comes at a time when the country is resetting political perspectives following a change of government. c2c will play a crucial role in shaping the future agenda through the Breaking Down Barriers Commission, an integral part of the wider Purpose Coalition.

The Purpose Coalition is a collective of forward-thinking organisations dedicated to promoting social mobility and equal opportunity. Through innovative collaborations, the Coalition works to dismantle barriers and create a fairer society, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, can achieve their full potential.

c2c is an award-winning train operator providing services between Fenchurch Street in the City of London and Shoeburyness, covering 26 stations in East London and South Essex. Renowned for its punctuality and popularity, c2c is one of the UK's leading train operators. It has long been a vital link for communities, providing reliable and efficient transport that bridges gaps between people and possibilities.

The Breaking Down Barriers Commission is dedicated to identifying and dismantling obstacles that hinder social mobility and equal opportunity. With c2c’s involvement, the Commission is set to amplify its impact, leveraging c2c's extensive network and community presence. This partnership will see the Purpose Coalition and c2c produce an Impact Report, highlighting current best practices and identifying opportunities to accelerate progress.

The report will serve as a benchmark for progress, showcasing successful initiatives and providing a roadmap for further advancement. By joining forces, the Purpose Coalition and c2c are poised to make meaningful strides in promoting social mobility and ensuring that everyone has the chance to thrive.

Rt Hon Justine Greening, Chair of the Purpose Coalition and former Secretary of State for Transport, said:  "We are thrilled to welcome c2c to the Purpose Coalition. Their commitment to connecting communities and fostering opportunities aligns perfectly with our mission . Rail is not just about improving connectivity; it's a catalyst for economic growth. A robust and efficient rail network can unlock new opportunities, drive regional development, and ensure the UK remains competitive in the global market.

Together, through the Breaking Down Barriers Commission, we will drive significant change and create a more inclusive society. This partnership exemplifies how businesses can be a force for good, and we look forward to the impactful work ahead."

Rob Mullen, Managing Director at c2c said:

“We are proud to be joining forces with the Purpose Coalition. As an organisation rooted in our local communities, we want to play our part in bolstering economic health and stability, helping to bring improvements to those living in, visiting and working across our network and beyond.
